THE PHONETIC ALPHABET

In English there is no simple relationship between spelling and sounds. As a result people have invented different systems to represent English sounds. These systems use one letter or symbol for each sound. An alphabetic system with one symbol representing one sound is a phonetic alphabet.



En el inglés no hay una relación simple entre la forma de deletrear y los sonidos de las letras. Por lo tanto, la gente ha inventado diferentes sistemas para representar los sonidos en inglés. Estos sistemas utilizan una letra o símbolo para cada sonido. El sistema alfabético con un símbolo que representa un sonido es un "alfabeto fonético".
